Woven mesh gabion boxes
Woven mesh gabion boxes are hexagonal, double-twisted wire-mesh structures.
The gabion boxes are divided into chambers by inserting diaphragms every meter. The wire used for making the boxes is made of thickly plated mild steel. The gabion units are delivered to the site flat-packed.
The double-twisted mesh connections of the woven mesh prevent the mesh from coming apart if the wire is cut or snaps, in each case the location of the fault is restricted to the neighbouring areas. The units are attached to each other using stitching wire and/or staples.
Technical characteristics
The mesh/wire versions generally used are summarised in the table below. In order to reinforce the structure, all edges are strengthened with a thicker wire. For the sizes and size tolerances belonging to the different versions see the table of dimensions below:

Gabion made of welded steel mesh
Gabion units made of welded steel mesh are square wire-mesh structures.
Panels are placed every metre inside the gabion units. The wire used for making the boxes is made of thickly plated steel. The gabion units are delivered to the site bundled per panel or partly assembled.
The units can be assembled with spiral binders, stitching wire and/or staples.
Technical characteristics
The mesh/wire versions generally used are summarised in the table below. In order to strengthen the head wall of the structures, they can be constructed of steel wire with a larger diameter.
